March 8 - March 14

Hillsborough Girl Scout Service Unit 72 celebrates National Girl Scout Week 2015! Sunday March 8th through Saturday March 14th.

Hillsborough SU72 is comprised of over 90 troops of all levels of scouting will be celebrating National Girl Scout Week.  This is a remembrance of the time when Juliette Low founded the Girl Scout Organization on March 12, 1912.

Girl Scouts is the worlds preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls-where in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world.

There will be various activities and any opportunities for Girl Scouts to offer their service in the tradition of Juliette Low.  All Girl Scouts are highly encouraged to participate.  Please see our local web site for complete details and registration / contact information.  All of these events may be attended as a troop or independently.

National Girl Scout Week begins with Girl Scout Sunday on March 8, 2015.  On this day Girl Scouts are encouraged to visit any one of the participating Churches in Hillsborough for Sunday services.  Girls and their families are welcome to attend any one of the Houses of Worship in Hillsborough regardless of faith.  The Churches are welcoming all Girl Scouts.  Girls should wear their vest/sash to Church on this day so that they may be recognized as Girl Scouts. The level of participation varies with each location.  Some will include the girls in the service, others would like for the girls to serve as morning greeters & hand out bulletins, please check with the coordinator for your location for details.  At every location the Girl Scouts will stay and host coffee hour/fellowship time following Worship Service which will consist of donated home baked goods from all of the Girl Scout troops in Hillsborough.

The participating Churches in Hillsborough are The Neshanic Reformed Church, The Hillsborough Reformed Church at Millstone, The Fellowship Bible Church, The Christian Community Chapel and Mary Mother of God Catholic Church.  Times will vary please check our web site for complete details and links to registration page as well as link to sign up for baking.

The Girl Scout Birthday Celebration is a wonderful Service Unit sponsored event which is geared for Daisy, Brownie and Juniors.  This event takes place on Thursday March 12, 2015.

The week will conclude with the Girl Scout Shabbat which will be celebrated at Temple Beth-El on Friday evening March 13, 2015.  All Girl Scouts and their families are welcome to attend.  Girls should wear their Vest/ Sash so that they may be recognized as Girl Scouts.  Please use the online registration. Girls Scouts will be hosting and providing home baked refreshments on this date also.  Please use the online sign up for bakers.

We are looking forward to sharing the meaningful traditions of Juliette Low and Girl Scouts with increasing participation each year!  Please join us in making the events planned for 2015 a GREAT SUCCESS!
