Let us help!
The Children’s Department at the Hillsborough Public Library would like to assist Girl Scout Troops with special events or projects for scouts!
We can tailor programs to your needs, however some of the services we can provide are:
- Tours of the Library
- Badge Days
- Journey programs or special events
- Bronze, Silver or Gold Award mentoring
- Information materials (books, media) for meetings
Among our goals:
- Establish an ongoing partnership between the girl scout troops and the Hillsborough Library.
- Help your troop members to see the library as a lifelong valuable resource.
- Create a dialogue for the services you need and what we can provide.
Most importantly, have fun learning and working together!
In October 2014, we participated in a "Community Connection" event sponsored by Service Unit 72 (of which we are former Troop Leaders) at the Hillsborough Municipal Building, run by Karen Briegs. It was a wonderful event where we met with Troop Leaders and discussed our common goals. On December 2, 2014, we presented a "Journey" program for Troop 60643, working with Leader Debbie Fox. We discussed the different Journey options with the girls, gave a Powerpoint presentation, and showed them books that they could use to help them on their way. We enjoyed working with them so much, and would like to continue this partnership with other girl scout troops in the area.
Attached is a flyer that details what we have to offer at the Hillsborough Library. We also have a collection of Journey Books that are available for your reference in the Children's Department. Please call or email us with any questions!
If you could also verbally mention this at the next Leader's Meeting, that would be great!
